The Independence Collective

The Independence Collective creates business opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

Our purpose is to promote independence, empowerment and equality for all those who join the collective and to support them in embracing their own entrepreneurial spirit.

The collective concept was born from the frustration of being unable to find employment in today’s highly competitive job market. We came up with the idea of brewing and selling craft beer.

From this idea, a range of craft beers branded as Change Maker is now available throughout New Zealand.

Nathan Martin, Janie Tutton, Cameron Stitchbury and Neville Pugh from the Independence Collective.

We also worked together on a Declaration of Independence to support our goal of working towards financial independence and a better life for ourselves and others with intellectual disabilities who are struggling to find paid employment.

The Independence Collective is powered by the IHC Group and returns all profits to the members of the collective.
